“Being married to a French woman, my life is devoted to understanding the different mentalities, behavior and practical ways of doing things of the French and Germans. A good understanding of the decision-making processes between French and German teams produces spectacular improvements as it is reflected in the success of Ariane Espace and Airbus.”

Born in 1942, Paul Kuntermann has been living a cross-cultural life as a German national married with a French national and living in France since 1972.

As a leading member, he participated to set on foot the first franco-german governmental agency decided under the De Gaulle / Adenauer agreements and tasked with the management of the joint defence programmes.

He joined the Daimler Benz Group in 1979 and was in charge of various joint-venture companies in Paris. As a managing director he had to run over a period of 20 years 4 different companies in the electronic/defence sector. These companies included beside the French and German nationals, American, British and Italian nationals.

Through his operational responsibilities he acquired sound experience in cross-cultural differences, intercultural communication, management and conflict resolution.
