Some highlights of the year

2020, strange year

The year 2020 started pretty well until March…and then the keyword was “be connected”  Great trip in Rwanda to discover the country and learn more about cultural specificies. Subsaharian African countries are unfortunately very often neglected in intercultural studies. Then we moved to Asia, the US and back to Europe…just to experience the pandemic and the lock-down. We maintained our coaching on-line but came to the conclusion that the dynamics of the Bridges sessions and the momentum require face-to-face situations. However, as a compromise we managed to organise on-line sessions for small groups of attendees.  

The end of an era?
Bangkok, Birmingham, 2020, January-March

The module “Intercultural knowledge” Jacques Pateau has been facilitated for 14 years for the Sonacademy of Sonepar, the global market leader in B-to-B distribution of electrical products, took place this year in Thailand and in the UK. The objectives of this training: mastering cultural differences, fostering co-operation, developing team spirit. The attendees of this session representing 20 different countries worldwide could hardly imagine that it was their last common workshop in person of the year. 

Cooperation for starts-ups (cont.)
San Francisco, February 10-13, 2020

Contentful,  Content Infrastructure for Digital teams, a German-American young company we have been accompanying for 4 years is growing. After a few sessions in Berlin, two seminars were organized in San Francisco for employees strongly in day-to day collaboration with German colleagues. The objective of these sessions is still to master cultural differences, to improve concrete day-to-day virtual and cross-cultural communication as well as cooperation spirit.

MBA
Mannheim, February, 2020

In addition to the 4-days module “Cross Cultural Management” of the Full-Time MBA Jacques Pateau is also in charge of a similar session for the Executive MBA Mannheim-Shanghai (Tongji University). The Mannheim Business School is the leading institution in business administration in Germany. Just before the lock-down three different courses could take place with the attendance of students coming from 20 countries. Of course the Covid-topic was on everyone’s lips but the show could go on…
